Hi, I'm Keri, a fellow school counselor and the person behind Counselor Keri LLC. I've been a school counselor for over a decade years. I know what it's like to do this work at scale, with limited time, inside a system that doesn't always make it easy. I also know what it's like to sit in an MTSS meeting and not have an answer when someone asks what your data shows.
That moment (the one where you know your students are growing, you know your work is making a difference, and you still can't prove it in the room) is what this course is built around. Not because data is the most important part of counseling. But because without it, the most important parts of counseling stay invisible. And invisible programs get cut, reduced, and redirected.
I created The Counseling Data Playbook because the system I needed didn't exist. Everything I'd encountered was either too academic to be practical, too generic to fit the actual complexity of school counseling work, or designed for someone with half my caseload and twice my prep time. So I built it myself, tested it in my own building, refined it across multiple school years, and designed it specifically for counselors who are already doing meaningful work and just need a system to make that work visible.

What grade levels is this course for?
School counselors at all grade levels will find the content applicable. The examples and fictional case character (Maya) are drawn from an elementary setting, and some tools are specifically designed for K–6 contexts, but the frameworks, language, and advocacy tools apply across all levels.
Can school social workers or school psychologists take this course?
Yes. Anyone providing counseling or intervention services in a school setting and responsible for collecting and communicating data within an MTSS framework will find this course useful.
When do I get access to the course materials?

I'm already pretty good at collecting data. Is this still for me?
If you can collect data but struggle to interpret it, use it in advocacy conversations, or sustain it consistently across a full school year — yes. The course goes well beyond collection into interpretation, language, sustainability, and multi-year program advocacy.
Will this course count for professional development hours at my school?
Many districts accept completion of self-paced professional development courses for PD hours. Check with your administrator. This admin funding request letter may help you make the case.
Is this course approved for NBCC credit hours?
Not currently. I am submitting this course for NBCC approval. Anyone who enrolls before June 1 will not be charged an additional fee if the course is approved.
What if I can't keep up with the content?
This is a self-paced course. There is no deadline for completing modules. Work through it at your own pace, in the order that makes sense for your school year.
