My Favorite Anger Read Alouds

Whether it’s for classroom counseling lessons, small group counseling sessions, or just individual sessions, pulling out a book about anger is always helpful for helping students connect to characters, experiences, and strategies. Anger Books for Kids

Cool Down and Work Through Anger

This book is great for pre-K and Kindergarten students to explicitly teach strategies for recognizing anger and calming down.


I Hate Everything!

This book is great for Kindergarten and first grade counseling activities:


Roaring Mad Riley

I love this book so much! I’ve used it with preschool-aged kids and Kindergarten students.


Even Superheroes Have Bad Days

This book is great for second and third grade students to explain that it’s okay to be mad, but it’s not okay to hurt others or damage things:


Anh’s Anger

Though the main character is 5, I tend to use this book with first and second graders as it explains what it means to “sit with” anger:
