After taking a mindfulness course from YogaEd a few years ago, I’ve been looking for more and more ways to incororpate yoga into my school counseling activities. When we were doing distance learning, it was a great way to give kids a movement break on screen. In person, I like to do chair yoga (also a great course from Yoga Ed on this!) or small sequences for movement breaks and affirmations in the lessons. Sometimes for groups, I use yoga as an opener or closing activity. If you’re not comfortable with yoga just yet, there are so many great resources out there to guide your activities! Keep reading to find awesome online courses, videos, games, and books to use for your school counseling yoga activities.

School Counseling Yoga Activities
Online Courses & Videos
YogaEd
I’ve taken several courses from YogaEd and never been disappointed! They teach not only yoga poses but how to structure a yoga session, fun games to use for students who aren’t comfortable with a traditional flow, and even partner activities to build cooperation skills. Find out more about all of their trainings and courses here.

Cosmic Kids Yoga
If you want an already-made yoga activity for your students, Cosmic Kids is great for younger students! There are different time intervals to fit what you need and so many great themes that kids connect with. My Kindergarteners loved doing Cosmic Kids Yoga last year on distance learning and when I needed to pre-record lessons for days I would be out.

Activities & Games
To introduce poses to kids, games and activity cards are great tools! I’ve used these in whole group activities, small group activities, and centers (PS click here to learn more about using centers in school counseling).

Books
There are so many great children’s books out there to introduce yoga and yoga poses! Here are a few of my favorites (and I linked even more below on this Amazon wishlist).
