I teared up when I first got it in the mail and saw the dedication to Emma Gonzales, and let’s just say those weren’t the last tears from this book. Say Something Book Activities


1 – Write an Awesome Note

Pick someone you don’t normally reach out to, and write them a note to tell them something awesome you’ve noticed about them! Review how to give genuine compliments and then let students write their notes of awesomeness.

2 – Trace Your Hand

Trace your hand on a piece of paper. Inside each finger, write something you can say next time you see someone being treated unfairly or unkindly.

3 – Make Music

Write a song or a rap about something good in your community.

4 – Illustrate Your Message

Draw a picture or word art to illustrate the message you have to share with the world.

5 – Write a Haiku

Write a haiku to express your positive message.

6 – Get Poetic

Write a rhyming poem about something beautiful you’ve seen recently.

7 – Reflect and Wish

Recall a time when someone was unkind to you or treated you with injustice. Write 3 things you wish someone else had said to or for you.

8 – In Your Heart

Draw a heart. Fill the inside of the heart with words or illustrations of the things that matter most to you.

9 – Sticky Kindness

On 5 sticky notes, write kind, positive messages. Stick them in places where people will see them!
