I finally put together a super simple system to help me stay organized and eliminate the scrambling. All I need were a few clear plastic tubs, binders, and Ziplock bags. How to Organize Group Counseling Materials
Start with a tub…
To make things really simple, I got one clear plastic tub for every group. The tubs aren’t huge, but they’re wide enough and long enough to hold a binder. For some groups, I use a lot of art supplies, so I got deeper tubs for these. Inside the tub, I store the group curriculum in
Inside the binder…
In the binder, I print and store the entire curriculum in page protectors. I put one lesson in a page protector and any handouts that I need for that specific lesson in the same page protector. This allows me to simply pull out one page protector and have all of the printed materials I need for that session.
In the Ziplock bags…
I store all of the art supplies or props for each lesson in Ziplock bags that are labeled with the session numbers. This makes it really easy to just grab the bag for the lesson and go! When we make calm down bottles in

After the group is finished, I reprint or copy and printed materials and replenish the page protectors. I also restock any supplies or props that were used up so everything is ready to go next time I run the group!
